Secondary Occupations / Only Occupation

Section 5 of Regulation 991 outlines the registration requirements for an individual. It is legislated that the “only business or employment” of an individual be that of an insurance broker, or an insurance broker/life agent.

You can submit a Secondary Business Exemption Form and a letter of support from the Principal Broker to licensing@ribo.com for any other business involvement or employment by submitting a letter of request.

You can find additional information about secondary business requests here:

Mortgage / Real Estate Representatives
Please note that employment as a Real Estate (RECO) or Mortgage sales representative would be considered a conflict of interest with RIBO.
Therefore, prior to registering as an insurance broker, any individual should:
* Provide email confirmation that they are aware of the conflict and once RIBO licensed you will not reactivate the RECO/Mortgage license or work as a RECO/Mortgage Sales Rep; and
* Provide email confirmation from RECO/Mortgage that the license has been resigned prior to applying for licensing with RIBO.
